* Welcome to Foot2Afrika volunteering and adventure organization. Here you will find a meaningful, valuable and affordable involvement with the local community in the Kilimanjaro region. * In 2006 Foot2Afrika was formed by two local Tanzanian men, Emmason and Johnson. They have a good understanding of how and where your volunteering efforts will make a real impact in the lives of the local people. They have lived here, grown here, and seen first hand the struggles faced here. * While being part of the community, their mission is to increase the participation of both locals and international volunteers to serve the Tanzanian community at grass root level. If you want to help but do not have the availability to volunteer you can do one of the adventure programs and from the costs of these programs 10% go to local community projects. Before forming Foot2Afrika they both spent many years working for international volunteering agencies and quickly came to understand that sometimes efforts were misplaced and volunteers could be exploited by high profit-seeking volunteer agencies. They were frustrated that this altruistic activity - by people wanting to make a real difference - was being taken advantage of and volunteers were being charged high rates to help out local projects. This is the main reason for Foot2Afrika not charging volunteers for their project placement, only accommodation and food. Expect this with Foot2Afrika: • Personalized, quality service We keep it small so that we can offer a more personalized and ultimately worthwhile experience for both volunteers and adventurers. Both volunteer and adventure programs are individualized. • Project Support Foot2Afrika offers support and advice to volunteers during the entire process of planning to volunteer in Tanzania as well as in-country support. • Flexibility Programs are open throughout the year. You can choose the timeframe, from 2 weeks to 3 months and longer. We are also flexible about individual programs, so remember to tell us about your particular interests and objectives for your trip when you apply. • Adventure with Foot2Afrika For you who want to experience Tanzania’s beautiful nature and wildlife we offer a varied selection of adventures customized to fit your interests. Based at the foothill of mountain Kilimanjaro, Foot2Afrika will take you to remote, ecologically and culturally important locations.
