Maasai & Bushman Survive Volunteering Adventure

The Program covers 4 weeks where by two weeks is spent on a volunteering project and two weeks on an Adventure within Tanzania. Groups should be from five to twenty people.

OBJECTIVES:

• To support and promote the communities responsible tourism.
• To promote communities volunteerism awareness for poverty eradication, fighting HIV/AIDS
and environmental conservation through partnership activities.
• To promote cultural relations between volunteers and communities.

TASKS:

In order to meet the above objectives, the Meaningful Adventure Volunteer Work placements are divided in two folders, as follows:

• Work:

Volunteers will be involved in Environmental activities like game reserves, planting trees, cleaning campsites and other public places. Assisting on construction and building of primary school classrooms, road maintenance, and renovation of health centers, also teaching about first aid.

• Study:

Volunteers will discuss and share the knowledge and experience on following subjects:
o Female genital mutilation, traditional medicine and its role among Maasai and Bushmen,HIV/AIDS     as mortal threat to Maasai and Bushmen.
o The poverty, culture, modern education among the tribes.
o The Maasai and Bushmen of today and tomorrow. Facilitators are invited from the Government          Departments, NGO’s, and High learning Institutions etc. The discussions, debates, and workshops include local communities.

Adventure continues:

The 2 week adventure program includes the following attractions, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, Lake Manyara, Kilimanjaro day trip trek, cycling and a city tour. Activities and destinations are subjected to change but this will be confirmed before the final agreement. The full program overview with dates, itineraries, accommodation inclusive activities will be send at least 1 month before group travel. Accommodation:

Accommodation during the volunteering will be in tent and Maasai homes as an alternative for someone that want to experience Maasai night life. During Adventure the accommodation will vary from camp, hostel to lodge.

Meals:

All meals are provided during the entire program. During the volunteering work volunteer will sometimes have to assist on cooking meals when the day is not busy.
