WELCOME TO FOOT 2 AFRIKA-ZANZIBAR
Even the name Zanzibar is magical. It induces thoughts of ancient traders from Persia, Arabia, India, China, Europe and Africa. It is the home of Tanzania's national language, the trading language of Swahili. Zanzibar was the hub of the spice trade as well as the slave trade. There are still ruins of slave prisons and slave markets to visit. There is majestic architecture to observe, especially Zanzibar's famous carved doors. Winding your way through the narrow alleyways of Stone Town, visiting the bazaars and taking in all the sights, smells and sounds is reason enough to visit Zanzibar; but it's pristine palm tree lined beaches, the spice plantations and Jozani Garden - the last remains of the vast forest that once covered the entire center of the island are great draws as well. A sunset dhow (a traditional sailboat) cruise, swimming among the dolphins, deep sea fishing, snorkeling / SCUBA at sites that are among the best in the world and just pure relaxation on the Indian Ocean beaches all can be arranged by Foot2Afrika for you. There are accommodations to fit nearly every budget and flights or bus/ferry transport, tours, SCUBA/snorkeling and deep sea fishing can be arranged for you by Foot2Afrika.
Zanzibar is also famous for its spices as it once produced over 90% of the worlds cloves. While Zanzibar is mainly known for cloves, the island produce a variety of other spices such as aniseed, bay leaves, black pepper, cardamom, saffron, cumin, curry, and many more.
There are a variety of activities you can do here, and we recommend at least 3 days to truly enjoy the beauty of this island.
