Project summary: The project is on going and takes place in Moshi urban and rural. We are working together with local established shools to reach the community in need. The projects aim to develop self-confidence and encourage the use of art as a form of expression. Participants are supported to challenge common notions of African life and share their opinions and ideas, and begin to understand the importance of public speaking as a social and economic tool in this global, 'information age'. The students range in age from elementary to high school, and each one has been chosen because of his or her ability to create powerful poems, stories, or essays. The students will read their original work at the student hall which is arranged by volunteers and local teachers. The events are free and open to the public as well as other schools nearby. This project is open to everyone with a passion and experience on how to develop and encourage young people as they embark on writing and presenting public speeches. Speech day is certainly one not to miss. Who knows, you might meet the future leader of Tanzania or even the future Secretary General of the United Nations! |
